Coffee can, c.1815, with the crest of Gilbert and initials EWG. Almost certainly made for Commander Edmund William Gilbert, RN, who married in 1822 and whose his brother was a General in the East India Company service. See CAP Volume II, p.687, however there on a white rather than peach ground.
