Side plate, c.1790, with the arms of Ponton, with in pretence Small quartering Cater. Probably for Thomas Ponton (1749-1821), a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, son of Daniel Ponton, an influential merchant of Lambeth and Battersea, although his wife’s name is not recorded.
