Soup plate, Qianlong c.1770, arms of Stewart, initials C.S.
Soup plate, c.1770, with the arms of Stewart in tricked form (lines and dots representing colour) with crest and the initials C.S. in rim cartouches. Made for Charles Stewart, youngest son of the 7th Baron Blantyre. A service in the same style, but arms on the rim, was made for his elder brother Alexander Stewart, who in 1776 succeeded his brothers as 10th baron.
