Z Plate, Qianlong c.1790, arms of Bodley impaling Holmes
Dessert plate, c.1790, with the arms of Bodley impaling Holmes. Of this family was Sir Thomas Bodley, founder of the Bodleian Library in Oxford in 1611, this service almost certainly for a direct descendant. The three crowns on the arms refer to the arms of Oxford University.
